León City Tour

On this tour we will explore the interesting history of this beautiful colonial city, the first capital of Nicaragua, founded in 1610 and learn about its friendly people.

León is famous for its many beautiful churches, museums and universities, home to thousands of students. We will visit Central America’s largest cathedral with its richly sculpted figures, large tombs, monumental paintings, baroque furniture, shining silver religious artifacts, and saint niches. From the Cathedral’s domed roof (if possible) a wonderful look over the active volcanic chain can be admired.

During our visit in the city, several old revolutionary murals from the 80’s can be observed while heading to the house and now Museum of the most famous Nicaraguan the poet “Ruben Dario”. His former colonial dwelling exhibits an interior garden with wide corridors and well preserved rooms, holding a large number of books with his “Modernism” work.

The city of León boasts to have the most complete and best collection of European and Latin American exhibition art in the fully renovated colonial house of the foundation “Ortiz-Gurdian”.
