We enjoyed everything we did and loved every place we stayed (Morgan's Rock, Casona de los Estrada, and especially the wonderful Albergue Celentiname -- our favorite place on the trip -- and Dona Maria's cooking!).
We only wish we could have stayed in Nicaragua longer. We're already trying to plan another trip there, and the next time we travel with you, we'll certainly ask for Francisco to be our guide again. He did an excellent job. He was clearly very well informed about his country and was able to communicate lots of information in a clear and interesting way, he was always on time and very well organized, he immediately made us feel comfortable, and he made everything easy, including getting through the border crossing at San Carlos, which I'm sure we could never have managed without him.
Along with all this, he offered something really special: he has such a warm and friendly personality that we felt we were traveling with a Nicaraguan friend, and everywhere we went he managed to create this warm and friendly atmosphere for us with everyone we met. He was also willing to adapt to our needs, taking us on a great tour of Duilio Jimenez's pottery workshop, helping us negotiate for paintings in Solintename, etc., and he also did lots of special things that made our trip really memorable. For example, at the Albergue Celentiname, my daughter (age 14) and Dona Maria's granddaughter, age 13, were very shy with each other until Chico played a noisy, fun card game with them that got them laughing and talking in English and Spanish, and now my daughter feels she has a Nicaraguan friend her age.
These are the kinds of priceless experiences that we'll remember all our lives, and this happened because of Chico. I'll recommend your company and Chico to anyone traveling to Nicaragua.
We certainly will recommend ORO Travel...:

would like to tell you what a wonderful trip the 6 of us had..Julio was superb,,,taught us alot about your country and took VERY good care of us...Our accomodations were all very nice and the food delicious..We liked all the different restaurants that Julio took us to.
Morgan's Rock is a beautiful spot, tough to get to( the roads!!!) but wonderful when you get there.Julio and Victor seemed to have worked well together and Enrique was a superb driver...Not easy roads to drive on..!!!!!! All three of them handled leaving Morgan's Rock and the ferry screw up with great ease or it seemed that way to us.We certainly will recommend ORO Travel to friends who are interested in coming to Nicaragua..
Please thank both Julio and Enrique for giving us such a wonderful trip. Also please thank the driver who took us to San Jorge..
complement and thank them both for an excellent job. Both were friendly and
competent, but in addition, our tour guide was passionate and extremely
knowledgeable about Nicaragua. He made a wonderful impression on all of us and got away
before we could reward him for our appreciation. I hope this note helps a
little.

I wanted to send you a quick note of thanks for all the assistance you gave me while planning my family's trip to Nicaragua - and for your continuing help once we arrived. I will be certain to mention your company to fellow travelers.
We enjoyed our day trips tremendously and thought Walter Murillo was an excellent guide. He was very informative and had a great sense of humor. I understand that most guides work on a freelance basis so I am recommending that Oro hire Walter as often as possible.
My family enjoyed Morgan's Rock very much as well and it was a nice restful few days before we went home. However, Granada is the perfect place from which to see so much of Nicaragua and we were grateful to get such good information and suggestions from your office. Additionally, I always appreciated the immediacy of your answers to all of my questions. Thanks for taking the extra time.

I loved our trip!:

I loved our trip! Julio and Giovanni were both great, and my only complaint was that the trip was not longer. Oh, and it would be nice if your clients knew in advance how much to tip people such as bellboys, drivers, restaurant people, guides, etc. Even just a range would be good! Julio was nice enough to help us with most everyone except for himself :-)
Also, I think I might have restructured it a little bit too, i.e. seen some of the managua stuff the day we arrived, since we arrived fairly early in the afternoon, and there wasn't that much to do in or around our hotel. And I think I would have skipped spending the night in Leon, because the La Perla, while it looked nice, was where we had the most problems. Our door lock wouldn't work properly, our window wouldn't lock, and no one there spoke that much English. And it's just not as nice of a city as Granada is!
I liked La Omaja on Ometepe, although I was a little worried about it after talking to you. I didn't see the inside of Villa Paraiso, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the food was great (best breakfast of the trip!), and it was nice and quiet, and not full of people like Villa Paraiso.
Julio took great care of us, which is important to me, because while I can tough it out a bit, my wife needs more care, so he was very good for us. He always made sure we were okay, helped us to order at restaurants, was excellent at spotting wildlife, and was just generally fun to be with.
I liked Morgan's Rock and was glad that we ended the trip there. We had a lot of fun there, and it was nice to just relax, and I'm so grateful to you for getting us the second night on such short notice! The one little adventure we had was this: We arrived at the hotel, opened our suitcases up, and then went to dinner. While at dinner I thought that we should keep our suitcases closed, just in case any bugs crawled in, so when we got back to the room, we shut our suitcases, and zipped them up. In the morning, I went to get my clothes out of the suitcase, so I opened it up, and there was a big scorpion sitting in my suitcase! I was able to get it out with chopsticks that I always carry, and then killed it with my shoe. Thankfully we discovered him there and not when we arrived home! The only other thing I would say about Morgan's Rock is that service is slow, and things move at a different pace, so people should just relax and take things as they come.
Anyway, thank you so much for all of the hardwork that you put into our trip, all the planning, answering all of the questions, etc. I really appreciated it, and my wife, who is more the sit on a beach at a nice resort kind of person, loved the trip, which says a lot! I have already recommended your company to friends, so if you ever need a recommendation or anything, feel free to use my name!
I had a FANTASTIC time...:

Julio and my driver Yamal were Super Terrific!!!!! I met their wives one night and we went out for dinner. Then, we went out dancing. They kept me entertained and laughing.
The best way to experience the Nicaraguan culture. One of the wives gave me embroidery napkins and a CD of a singer named Paquita La del Barrio. Funny, very funny. Every time I play the CD, it gives me back memories of my Nicaraguan trip.
CBS announced "Survivor" in Nicaragua: Destination: San Juan del Sur • Source: La Prensa
Date: May 18 2010
American broadcaster CBS announced in New York that Nicaragua has been chosen as the next destination for the filming of “Survivor”. The beaches on the South coast of the Pacific Nicaragua will become the new stage of one of the most successful TV series during the 21st and 22nd season, after a careful process of selection of producers including assessing the ability of the country to host a program of this magnitude. Some of the factors taken into account when evaluating the potential of Nicaragua as host were the climatic conditions of the country, the capacity to accommodate the production of the series, access to areas of filming and the existence of spectacular natural beauty.
Two years ago the consortium “Amayo” opened up operations in Nicaragua to generate clean energy in the country. This very important wind mill project is located in the isthmus of the department of Rivas, a 20 kilometer strip of land that divides Lake Nicaragua and the Pacific Ocean. This region holds constant and quality wind allowing a great production of energy. Amayo first started operating with 20 wind mills; today they have expanded the investment to 30 wind mills producing 63 megawatts.
+InfoNicaragua rural community preserves wildlife sanctuary: Destination: San Juan del Sur • Source: La Prensa
Date: September 03 2011
Many years ago the idea about protecting the natural resources of the country did not have a great impact on peoples’ mind. Today this mentality is changing and the “Nicas” are becoming more aware about the importance of preserving the environment for the future generations. There is a rural community in the central pacific region of Nicaragua, situated chiefly in the Department of Carazo, which has been able to live in harmony with nature. “La Chota”, a community inhabited by approximately 600 people and based in the buffer zone of “the Escalante river – Chacocente wildlife refuge”, is currently preserving this dry tropical forest sanctuary.
