Nicaragua’s wildlife is fascinating and exuberant, 750 species of birds, 150 species of mammals and 300 species of amphibians is part of the species inventories. Ometepe’s natural Reserves hold a large number of small families of howler and white face monkeys.

"Los Guatuzos" wetland is home for the spectacled-caiman, green iguanas and hundreds of water birds. "El Chocoyero” is a great extension of dry tropical forest on the pacific region where white-tailed deer, vine snakes, agouties, armadillos and other wild species live.

Second largest biological biosphere “Indio Maiz” is the habitat for spider monkeys, poison dart frogs, wild cats, sloths, opossums, and an uncountable number of insect species. Bosawas biosphere, also called the “Amazonas” of Central America, provides countless and certainly undiscovered species of wild life.

Nicaragua’s rich biodiversity has been explored by many enthusiastic national and international biologists, but there is still much more to be discovered and studied.
