The Department of Managua is a dynamic region offering a wide variety of interesting opportunities for each adventurer’s likes. It is situated in the flat lands of the Pacific basin of Nicaragua, surrounded by other important departments including Granada, Masaya, Carazo, Leon, Matagalpa and Boaco. It has a total population of approximately 2 million people, most of them living in the city capital of Managua. Due to its rich volcanic soil, the department of Managua produces an ample array of agricultural crops such as corn, beans, coffee, rice, sugar cane, sorghum, bananas, plantains, pineapples, papayas, dragon fruits, etc.
Some of the most remarkable geographical features of Managua are its long wide beaches in the Pacific Ocean, Los Cardones, Masachapa, Pochomil and Montelimar, which are very popular on weekends and especially during Easter. In addition the department of Managua holds the second largest fresh water lake of the country, Lake Xolotlan. Also the region of Managua is crossed by a hill chain, “Las Sierritas”, which rises at the highest elevation of 950 meters above sea level where high quality coffee is traditionally grown. It is also worth to mention the proximity of Managua to the active volcanoes of Momotombo and Masaya as well as other interesting destinations. Two of the most important natural reserves of the Pacific Basin, “Chocoyeros” and “Montibelli”, are nestled in the outskirts of the capital holding significant wild life and flora.
Even though capitals usually are not that attractive “Managua” is a bit different offering the visitors archaeological sites, a unique modern catholic cathedral, Sandinistas-revolution monuments, museums, art galleries, handicraft markets, volcanic lakes, shopping malls, popular markets, discos, casinos, nightlife and international restaurants.
It is a great place for getting into real contact with nature in a dry tropical forest. This natural reserve is located 30 kilometers southwest of the city capital...
It is a natural private reserve nestled in the outskirts of Managua at the base of the hill chain, “Las Sierras de Managua”. Montibelli’s privileged location and lodge

Hello! Our trip was excellent and that is due in part to our new Nicaraguan friends, Julio and Julio at Oro Travel! We had a terrific time on our excursions in large part to those two guys—they were excellent tour guides/drivers and really helped us learn a lot of Nicaragua (and how to speak Spanish!!). We will certainly book through your company again when we take our next trip to Central America. Thanks for asking for our input.
I would like to...:

I don't remember the names of our guide and driver, but I would like to
complement and thank them both for an excellent job. Both were friendly and
competent, but in addition, our tour guide was passionate and extremely
knowledgeable about Nicaragua. He made a wonderful impression on all of us and got away
before we could reward him for our appreciation. I hope this note helps a
little.
I loved our trip!:

I loved our trip! Julio and Giovanni were both great, and my only complaint was that the trip was not longer. Oh, and it would be nice if your clients knew in advance how much to tip people such as bellboys, drivers, restaurant people, guides, etc. Even just a range would be good! Julio was nice enough to help us with most everyone except for himself :-)
Also, I think I might have restructured it a little bit too, i.e. seen some of the managua stuff the day we arrived, since we arrived fairly early in the afternoon, and there wasn't that much to do in or around our hotel. And I think I would have skipped spending the night in Leon, because the La Perla, while it looked nice, was where we had the most problems. Our door lock wouldn't work properly, our window wouldn't lock, and no one there spoke that much English. And it's just not as nice of a city as Granada is!
I liked La Omaja on Ometepe, although I was a little worried about it after talking to you. I didn't see the inside of Villa Paraiso, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the food was great (best breakfast of the trip!), and it was nice and quiet, and not full of people like Villa Paraiso.
Julio took great care of us, which is important to me, because while I can tough it out a bit, my wife needs more care, so he was very good for us. He always made sure we were okay, helped us to order at restaurants, was excellent at spotting wildlife, and was just generally fun to be with.
I liked Morgan's Rock and was glad that we ended the trip there. We had a lot of fun there, and it was nice to just relax, and I'm so grateful to you for getting us the second night on such short notice! The one little adventure we had was this: We arrived at the hotel, opened our suitcases up, and then went to dinner. While at dinner I thought that we should keep our suitcases closed, just in case any bugs crawled in, so when we got back to the room, we shut our suitcases, and zipped them up. In the morning, I went to get my clothes out of the suitcase, so I opened it up, and there was a big scorpion sitting in my suitcase! I was able to get it out with chopsticks that I always carry, and then killed it with my shoe. Thankfully we discovered him there and not when we arrived home! The only other thing I would say about Morgan's Rock is that service is slow, and things move at a different pace, so people should just relax and take things as they come.
Anyway, thank you so much for all of the hardwork that you put into our trip, all the planning, answering all of the questions, etc. I really appreciated it, and my wife, who is more the sit on a beach at a nice resort kind of person, loved the trip, which says a lot! I have already recommended your company to friends, so if you ever need a recommendation or anything, feel free to use my name!
While in Granada, Lauren and I enjoyed both a morning kayak through Las Isletas and a day long tour of Chocoyero and Los Pueblos de Meseta. Both were fantastic.
In particular, however, we wanted to let you how much we appreciated your staff. Our driver for both tours was Wilfredo – he was friendly, patient, and extremely accommodating. Our guide for the day in Chocoyero was Byron – we were beyond impressed with his knowledge of the culture and history of Nicaragua and good humor. He made us feel very comfortable and relaxed.
We will be certain to recommend Oro Travel to our friends, especially any tour with Wilfredo and Byron!
All the Best,

Julio and my driver Yamal were Super Terrific!!!!! I met their wives one night and we went out for dinner. Then, we went out dancing. They kept me entertained and laughing.
The best way to experience the Nicaraguan culture. One of the wives gave me embroidery napkins and a CD of a singer named Paquita La del Barrio. Funny, very funny. Every time I play the CD, it gives me back memories of my Nicaraguan trip.
Simply perfect and 100% proffessional. I recommend this agency very much ! He arrnaged for us house rental, car rental and transfers from the Managua airport on the night of arrival and then to Costa Rica on our last day were perfect and on time.
In Granada we stayed in a rental house called Casa Gallo - beautiful house with 3 bedrooms built around an elegant and large yard. Rooms have A/C which is vital in the heat and the house has all amenities, including a nice pool. Felt free and safe to drive around and to walk around at night. Rented a car fron Budget (15 minutes walking from the house) and the supermarket is also 10 minutes walk. Great restaurants for both breakfast and dinner. Drove to Masaya crater and Mombacho, which were both fun, unique and interesting.
Had no toubles with police... The town of Granada itself has a lot of charm. Very Recommended for people seeking unusual destinations.
