Splendid in rich colonial architecture, Granada is an outstanding old Spanish settlement. During this morning you will get the great opportunity to walk around the colonial city of Granada and see its most important historical homes, civil buildings, churches, plazas, museums, popular market and interesting daily life. The main plaza, “Colon”, is neatly surrounded by some of the most interesting homes of the city displaying different architecture styles like colonial, neoclassical and baroque. As every traditional Spanish founded settlement, Granada’s central plaza is laid out with a city hall building, bishop palace and cathedral.
The city’s narrow streets, especially designed for horse carriages during the colonial time, will lead you to other important historical sites where you will also see other colorful colonial homes. Maria Auxiliadora, Xalteva, La Merced, Guadalupe, La Asunción and San Francisco church are living evidence of a strong religious influence from Spain during the conquest. The former monastery of San Francisco houses nowadays a museum with an interesting collection of several pre-Columbian artifacts. Another important place of interest is the “Casa de los Tres Mundos”, an international cultural center building, a former resident of a Spanish family, known as an art center for music concerts, painting exhibitions, book fairs, films, cultural meetings, and others.
By horse carriage we will head to the small dock of Cabana Amarilla, where we will take a boat for a fascinating trip to observe some of the 360 little volcanic islands that shape the archipelago of “Las Isletas de Granada”. Colorful species of birds such as kingfishers, herons, jacanas, magpie jays, oropendolas, flycatchers, parakeets, sandpipers, and others can be enjoyed. What makes so unique about the “Isletas” is its all year round green vegetation adorned by mangoes, coconuts, poponjoches, icacos, kapoks, elequemes, and other tropical trees. During the boat tour you will have the opportunity to see some of the inhabitants of the islands fishing either with nets or lines native species of fish like fresh water bass and “mojarras”, which then they sell in Granada’s popular market. At the end of the day back to Granada after enjoying with ORO Travel this unique cultural and natural experience.

I want to say how wonderfully well our guide, Julio Flores took care of us on our recent trip with General Tours to Nicaragua.
He went out of his way to be accomodating and available. He checked on everything for us. He was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. We thank him and we want to say what a valuable guide you have.
We had a great trip:

We had a great trip to Nicaragua. The country & people where amazing. Everything worked out well. Our guide from ORO Travel, Elvis Madvigal was excellent.
He was very personable and great with our kids. The driver, Juan, was also excellent. I highly recommend them. The old bad part was having to leave and return home to snow.
Thanks for organizing a great trip.
Regards,
Chris

I loved our trip! Julio and Giovanni were both great, and my only complaint was that the trip was not longer. Oh, and it would be nice if your clients knew in advance how much to tip people such as bellboys, drivers, restaurant people, guides, etc. Even just a range would be good! Julio was nice enough to help us with most everyone except for himself :-)
Also, I think I might have restructured it a little bit too, i.e. seen some of the managua stuff the day we arrived, since we arrived fairly early in the afternoon, and there wasn't that much to do in or around our hotel. And I think I would have skipped spending the night in Leon, because the La Perla, while it looked nice, was where we had the most problems. Our door lock wouldn't work properly, our window wouldn't lock, and no one there spoke that much English. And it's just not as nice of a city as Granada is!
I liked La Omaja on Ometepe, although I was a little worried about it after talking to you. I didn't see the inside of Villa Paraiso, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the food was great (best breakfast of the trip!), and it was nice and quiet, and not full of people like Villa Paraiso.
Julio took great care of us, which is important to me, because while I can tough it out a bit, my wife needs more care, so he was very good for us. He always made sure we were okay, helped us to order at restaurants, was excellent at spotting wildlife, and was just generally fun to be with.
I liked Morgan's Rock and was glad that we ended the trip there. We had a lot of fun there, and it was nice to just relax, and I'm so grateful to you for getting us the second night on such short notice! The one little adventure we had was this: We arrived at the hotel, opened our suitcases up, and then went to dinner. While at dinner I thought that we should keep our suitcases closed, just in case any bugs crawled in, so when we got back to the room, we shut our suitcases, and zipped them up. In the morning, I went to get my clothes out of the suitcase, so I opened it up, and there was a big scorpion sitting in my suitcase! I was able to get it out with chopsticks that I always carry, and then killed it with my shoe. Thankfully we discovered him there and not when we arrived home! The only other thing I would say about Morgan's Rock is that service is slow, and things move at a different pace, so people should just relax and take things as they come.
Anyway, thank you so much for all of the hardwork that you put into our trip, all the planning, answering all of the questions, etc. I really appreciated it, and my wife, who is more the sit on a beach at a nice resort kind of person, loved the trip, which says a lot! I have already recommended your company to friends, so if you ever need a recommendation or anything, feel free to use my name!
Gracias!
Scott.

Both Scott and I wanted to thank all of you at ORO travel who helped make our vacation one of the more memorable ones of our entire life. We are not saying this with any form of hyperbole at all, but, we have been all over the world and never have we had such a splendid time. Never have we been treated with the kindness, care and concern as we were treated by both Julio and Giovanni.
Thank you once again

I have just finished my explore tour of Nicaragua and want to let you know what a great and interesting time I had. The tour was great from start to finish and Julio was great at answering my many questions about your country.
I gained a lot of knowledge of Nicaragua, of its people, history and the future of the country. I also had the pleasure of meeting Carla whom I think is just a great person. As this was my first tour ever it gave me a lot of insight to the job of tour operator, and it is certainly not a easy one with managing eighteen personalities. Julio did a great job!
Thank you to all of you for making my trip so enjoyable, and I will
certainly will be coming back.
Deborah
